I regard my work as a Joyful Celebration of our existence. -Laura van Riet
My interest in art-making happened at a very early age.
Studied History of Art through UNISA.
Lived in Worcester for many years – inevitably became involved in the Hugo Naude Art Centre.
Dabbled in Sculpting at first – then found drawing more rewarding and decided to concentrate on Botanic Art for 2-3 years.
Fourteen years ago we moved to Hermanus. Here the light, colours and
magnificent beauty of our surroundings inspires me mostly to concentrate on painting instead.
Drawn to the changing shades and moods of the sea, our landscapes and
exquisite floral kingdom, my works vary in theme.
A style has emerged from the serious accuracy of Botanic Art to more
expressive, looser and abstract works.
Every painting/portrait tells a story. I welcome you to share in the many hours of joy I have spent in my little Hermanus studio overlooking the sea.
I regard my work as a Joyful Celebration of our existence.
