ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
South African artist Patricia Atkinson works in watercolours, pastels, oils, acrylics and mixed media with a variety of subject matters such as African wildlife, African landscapes and still life amongst others. Many of her subjects have been inspired by travel around southern Africa including Botswana and Zimbabwe. Light and colour are two of her important elements in her paintings.
Patricia’s work has been influenced by various artists whose workshops and classes she has attended including Richard Rennie, Rosalind Chidell Braby and international artist Soraya French who is based in the UK.
Patricia has exhibited her paintings in the UK and South Africa and her paintings of Zulu women and African kraals were popular with overseas tourists visiting Umhlanga Rocks in Natal in the 1990s
