The Potters Place teaching studio – New to the Courtyard @ Bright Street Gallery

The Potters Place teaching studio is happy and excited to be Opening its doors in SOMERSET WEST. I have been teaching all things clay related for almost 30 years from my studio in Pretoria. When the opportunity arose for me to expand my business I decided that SOMERSET is the place where I would like to be.

The Courtyard @ The Bright Street Gallery was the perfect fit and everyone has been so helpful and accommodating and I am so thankful for finding this Gem of a place.
The classes I will be teaching will deal with all aspects of clay,

  • HANDBUILDING techniques (pinching, coiling and slabbing)
  • WHEELWORK (utilitarian work as well as altered and assembly pieces)
  • SCULPTURE (figure, animal and abstract)
  • WORKSHOPS will include alternative firing techniques of: RAKU and OBAVRU (beer firing)
  • : MOULD MAKING and SLIPCASTING
  • : DECORATING TECHNIQUES e.g. printing and stamping on clay, bubbling, coloured clays and slip decoration.

I will also be doing tailor made workshops for teambuilding events and parties.
